Chikmagalur, Nov 19: Sringeri MLA and former minister D N Jeevaraj of BJP, who is facing charges of kidnapping, raping and intimidating a woman in 2010, has been missing since 10 days, states a complaint filed in Koppa police station here.
The complaint has been filed by taluk block Congress president Shobith.
Shobith has also urged the police to begin a search operation for the missing MLA.
"Jeevaraj is missing from 10 days. No developmental work has been undertaken in the taluk. Farmers in Megur of Koppa are facing problems," said Shobith in his complaint.
Public meetings were convened by the deputy commissioner, MP, and district in-charge minister to resolve issues in Sringeri and problems faced by farmers. However, there was no sign of the MLA in any of these meetings, which has raised doubts in the minds of the people, said Shobith, urging police to find out the whereabouts of the MLA soon.
On November 8, the police had booked Jeevaraj on charges of kidnapping, raping and intimidating a woman. The 23-year-old woman, who hails from the same district, claimed that in 2010, Jeevaraj with the help of two accomplices, who were also booked by the police, kidnapped her at Kesaki village where she resides and took her away in a vehicle in which Jeevaraj too was sitting. Jeevaraj, however, rubbished the allegations and claimed that it was a conspiracy to extort money from him.
