Karkala: Narco analysis test will bring out the truth - Sowjanya's mother

Karkala, Dec 1: "The daughter I had brought up with so much love was lost to the cruelty of a few, and while the actual perpetrators of the crime are being protected by the police, attempts are being made to hinder the mass movement for justice by slapping defamation cases against those who are demanding CBI probe into the case, which includes me and other supporters of the movement," said Kusumavati, mother of rape and murder victime Sowjanya.

She was addressing a massive protest in connection to Sowjanya rape and murder case organized by Beltangady and Bajagoli units of Praja Prabhutva Vedike at Bajagoli here on Sunday December 1.

She further demanded that all 462 unnatural deaths reported in Dharmasthala over the last ten years be probed by the CBI under the guidance of Supreme Court.

"If the then SI Yogish, the then SP and the doctor who conducted the post-mortem are subjected to narco analysis test, the truth will be out," she added.

Praja Prabhutva Vedike chief Mahesh Thimarodi in his address said, "Though it has been almost a month since the state government announced CBI probe into Sowjanya case, there has been no progress at all. The second part of pressure tactics is going on in Dharmasthala, but no matter how powerful the opposition we face, this movement will not stop. One cannot fight for justice with money power, what is imporant is people power."

Sri Esha Vittaldasa Swamiji of Kemar Math said, "Our fight is not against any individual, Math, Kshetra or religion. We only to see the culprits arrested and punished for so brutally raping and murdering Sowjanya. After embarking into this fight for justice, we have had to hear plenty of criticism.  But we will not bow down to any pressure. There is no question of stepping back from this movement."

Atradi Amrita Shetty said, "If everyone come together and fight for Sowjanya in a peaceful way, she will surely get justice."

Praja Prabhutva Vedike Bajagoli unit members Vinay Shetty, Nagesh and others were present.

Banner set on fire

Meanwhile, a banner put up near Pernodi in support of Sowjanya was set on fire. The incident took place on Friday November 29 evening, locals said.
