Mangaluru, May 9: Mohammed Shaleel, a 22-year-old football enthusiast from Deralakatte near Mangaluru, has etched his name in the Guinness World Records by completing the fastest 20-cone slalom football dribble in a stunning 11.9 seconds.

The record-breaking performance took place at Al Falah Sports Arena in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia, in June 2024, and was officially certified by Guinness World Records on April 28, 2025.

Shaleel, the son of R B Abdul Hameed and Mumthaz Panemangalore, shattered the previous record of 15.78 seconds held by Canadian freestyle footballer Daniel Mazey, setting a new global benchmark in football agility and ball control.

This isn’t Shaleel’s first foray into the record books. In September 2022, he earned a Guinness World Record for executing 10 nutmegs — a skill move in which the ball is passed between an opponent’s legs — in just 30 seconds. That effort surpassed the earlier joint record held by international footballer Dele Alli and freestyle champion Tasha Nicole.

Currently working in Saudi Arabia, Shaleel has continued to pursue his passion for freestyle football, honing his technique and fitness to world-class standards.

His latest achievement has not only brought individual recognition but has also shone an international spotlight on Mangaluru and the wider Karnataka sporting community.

Shaleel’s dedication serves as a source of inspiration for aspiring athletes across India, proving that with focus and perseverance, global success is within reach.
