Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing organizes lamp lighting ceremony

Mangaluru, Nov 25: Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing organized lamp lighting ceremony of 18th Batch of Basic B.Sc Nursing and 20th Batch of General Nursing and Midwifery at AJIMS Auditorium Kuntikana on November 25 at 9.30 am.

The lamp lighting ceremony, an auspicious occasion in every nurse’s life held in reverence to Florence Nightingale, the Lady with the Lamp as she is more popularly known.

Shanthi S, assistant professor, Department of Pediatric Nursing gave the floral welcome to the guests, which was followed by inauguration by lighting the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries on the dais.

The chief guest, Dr G Kasthuri, Consultant/Director in Nursing Education, RGUHS and Dr Larissa Martha Sams, principal Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing, along with other guests garlanded the portrait of Florence Nightingale, as a tribute of love and respect to the foundress of Nursing.

The novice nurses received the light from the chief guest, Dr G Kasthuri and principal, Dr Larissa Martha Sams, followed by oath taking ceremony of novice nurses.

The chief guest Dr G Kasthuri in her address said, " Nursing is a dynamic and challenging profession, It plays a important role in providing care to humanity. Health is a right of every humanbeing. Science and technology is playing a important role in the present times and we have to upgrade to the modern times. There is no recession in nursing jobs, I thank all the parents for supporting the students to take up nursing as profession and also novices for taking the challenging profession."

Ashritha P Shetty, the director of LMET in her presidential speech said, " There is a high demand for nursing in the world now, so upgrade your skills. Grow in your profession and I wish all the success for the future endeavours."

Theresa Leeda Mendonca, the vice president of Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing was also present.

The students also presented a cultural show on the occasion. Patsy Castelino proposed the vote of thanks. Professor Triza Mathaias compered the event.
