Mangaluru, Aug 27: A senior citizen, alleging that his sister and her husband do not look after him, had assaulted the couple in anguish with an iron rod when they were sleeping on August 12. Thokkottu Kapikad resident Joseph D’Souza (64), who was subjected to the deadly assault and admitted to Deralakatte hospital in a serious condition, died on Monday morning, August 27 without responding to treatment.

The attempt to murder case has been now converted to murder case.

The treatment of Janet D’Souza, the wife of the deceased, is being continued. Police sources say that she is recovering.

It may be recalled, the couple was sleeping in the house at Kapikad on August 12 while Janet’s elder brother Denis (78), who was also staying in the house launched a deadly assault on the couple with an iron rod. As the couple screamed in pain, Janet’s younger brother came rushing and informed Ullal police station. Accused Denis had gone to Ullal police station and admitted his crime.

The police had arrested Denis.

Denis has been in judicial custody since then.

Too bad to kill a person for differences with the relatives.May his soul rest in peace and should be jailed for those who were responsible for his death.

To be frank, they shouldnt have stayed together.I am sure they had long back problems, whoever the reason is ,should have cleared it with police or with athe help of a lawyer. Now too late.may be sister too was bit lash with brother.when two parties live together have to adjust .both.otherwise senior brother should have gone to a homefor aged ,instead of trying to kill his own relatives. Now he will be treated with silver tablet?Other side sister and her husband should have lived seperate instead of having with brother.God knows he was so angered or with psychic not so stabile? Now the problem is not yet solved.as a elder he should have had some patience.May the soul of deceased rest in peace.May the sister get well soon.

Don't know about the unfortunate people in the story.

But if "should have" and "could have" were in my full actionable control, I would be having 20 billion dollars in my bank account.
