Kuwait: PWAK celebrates Monti Fest

Kuwait, Sep 24: On the occasion of Mother Mary’s Birthday Pamboor Welfare Association Kuwait (PWAK), a leading and one and only overseas association from Pamboor parish, celebrated the feast which is known as Monti Fest on September 21 at Harmony Hall, Salmiya as per the Mangalurean Catholic traditions and culture.

Celebration started with the introduction by compere Shawn Pereira.

Presidents and representatives of various Mangalurean associations in Kuwait, such as KCWA, Tulu Koota, Pangala, Shirva, Brahmavar, Kanajar, UMK, Abbasiya Konkani families, the family members and friends of PWAK were present.



The statue of Infant Mary was decorated with beautiful flowers. Sunil and Wilma Menezes conducted the Novena service. All the children were given a plate of flowers to offer Infant Mary singing, ‘Moriek Hogalsian.’ After the novena service, children led the prayer.

The chief guest of the event was Kevin Misquith, a leading singer amongst the Mangalurean community. On the stage PWAK director Stany Monis, president Samson Noronha and PWAK vice-president Johnson Fernandes were present. President Samson Noronha first introduced about Pamboor parish and PWAK to the guests and welcomed the gathering. The sponsors and the guests honored by flower bouquets. A cake cutting ceremony was held by the guests and the committee members of PWAK. Chief guest Kevin Misquith in his speech talked about his link with Pamboor parish and highlighted the importance of unity of the Pamboorians abroad and wished everyone a happy feast.

Variety of entertainment and group dances were presented and spot prizes were distributed. Auction and instant lucky dips were the attraction of the event. There were plenty of gifts for draw. DJ Cheslee D’Souza entertained the crowd with melodious music. Vice-president Johnson Fernades thanked the guests, sponsors, compere, DJ, Caterers and the support team. Compere Shawn offered the grace before meal. As per the Mangalurean Catholic tradition novem followed by a traditional vegetarian meal with vorn, pathrade prepared by M&M Caterers was served to all. Around 175 guests were present.
