Udupi, Jul 26: A gang which arrived in a car on Thursday July 25 morning reportedly tried to kidnap a boy who was walking towards his school after alighting from a bus. However, no police complaint was filed in this connection.

As per reports, the abduction attempt was made on Sharat Nayak, son of Satyananda Nayak from Atrady, an eighth standard student of Parkala school. It is said that the abductors arrived in a red colour car.

The car was moving towards Manipal from the direction of Atrady. As the highway was blocked, the car moved on the road that leads to jodurasthe from near Ashwatha Katte at Parkala Junction which leads to Durgalaxminagar. The road abruptly ends after some distance. A dog chased the car on this occasion. It is said that the gang dropped off the boy at the dead end of the road before returning by the same road.

The student, after being released by the gang, is said to have visited the house of a relative nearby and gave information. He also attended the school thereafter, it is said. It is gathered that normally his father dropped the boy off at the school but occasionally he took a bus ride.

The police have since verified the CCTV footage of Canara Bank ATM near the spot. The scene of the student walking on the road is seen there but there is no clue about gang or their car.
