Congregation sacks nun who protested against Bishop Mulakkal

Wayanad (Kerala), Aug 7 (IANS): The Franciscan Clarist Congregation (FCC) on Wednesday dismissed Sister Lucy Kalapurakkal from the church at Manathavady in Kerala for disobeying church authorities.

A high level committee of the FCC took the decision of Sister Kalapurakkal's dismissal on May 11 after getting a clearance from the Vatican.

Sister Kalapurakkal had last year supported the nuns' strike in the state demanding the arrest of rape-accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal, who headed the Roman Catholic Diocese in Jalandhar.

Sr Lucy Kalapurakkal

A nun had filed an FIR accusing against Mulakkal of having raped her at Kerala's Kuravilangad church between 2014 and 2016. Mulakkal was arrested in September following the protest and is currently out on bail.

However, Sister Kalapurakkal became a target of the Church authorities after she joined the nuns protest against the delay in Mulakkal's arrest despite the FIR against him.

Since then she had been receiving notices from the church on flimsy charges such as airing her opinion about the bishop on TV channels, owning a car and writing a book.

Speaking to the media at her convent, Sister Kalapurakkal said that two senior nuns today asked her to sign a letter. "I told them will not sign the letter till I read it. It was after that they allowed me to read the letter, the first sentence of which said that I have been dismissed and asked to vacate the convent in 10 days," she said.

"I never did anything wrong. All I did was to lend support to the hapless nuns, who were protesting. What's the problem, if I own a car or write a book?" asked the nun.

"I will now seek legal recourse with the help of my well wishers. I don't think I am bad in any respect compared to the over 7,000 nuns in our congregation. I consider myself a very good nun," she added.

We Catholics have legal dept. handled by the Church Authorities. Any matter, we are supposed to give in writing along with the proofs. Its a long process. Every thing will be carefully handled, witnesses are called for their views etc.
In view of this, why go in public and protest? Also, as repeatedly asked, why she kept quiet for so long? Let her answer this.

My humble request to you is, the matter is known to you and the Congregation. You cannot claim you are good. Neither I can say so. Only God is the supreme judge. Do not waste more time in protesting or arguing. Time is little or not known when God calls us. We are to be ready for the final call from God our Father.

Accept the letter and serve the people from your place.

Why you the nun, for such a long period kept silence from 2014-2016 having been raped, may be two times or multiple times?

If the nun keeps silence between 2014-16, dies it mea that she has to be silent for rest of her life. Not necessarily every time to be mute mode.
Here it’s not the victim who speaks, its Sr Lucy, the supporter of injustice speaks, and eventually she is asked to leave, sign the document even before reading as per news report.

This woman had nothing to do with the other woman who was the Superior General of a congregation.

The second woman, the Superior General, lost the elections. And Mulakkal went to support the new Superior General.

The woman who lost the elections had to call a previous junior "Amma". That was too much to as she was "Amma" to the entire congregation for six years. Vanity!!!

That's all there is to it.

But this woman, who had nothing to do with the Superior General who lost elections, went to protest to create a sensation.

This woman was not even based in Punjab, where Mulakkal and the former Superior General were based.

Sexual allegations against the priests and nuns itself are detrimental for the dignity and sanctity of the Church. Accused can win the court battle with efficient lawyers on technical grounds or with benefit of doubt which always goes to the accused. It doesn't mean that sexual crime has not taken place. Therefore, those who involved in sexual allegation should be resigned or removed.

It's really disgusting to hear about such incidents at frequent intervals which shows that this is just the top of the iceberg!
In a situation where no one stands by the victims, whatever the paths taken, if nobody from the congregation supports the victim, what other redressal route is there other than suffering or gathering courage to come out in the open and exposing the truth!

It's very good that the innocent people come to know on what is being preached and what really is going on inside such gated religious communities in the name of God!!

As a practicing Catholic, i feel terribly disturbed, by the rampant, abuse, subjugation of justice, rational voice and financial scandals, within the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic church !!!!! Clergymen, priest's, Bishop's, have been guilty of sexual and financial abuse .... when exposed they try to intimidate the victim and swiftly make every attempt to clamp down, on the scandalous episodes, from tumbling out of their closets !!!! When cornered, they threaten the victim's with excommunication from the church !!! The laity who is the real church, must stand united, seek legal assistance and prosecute these guilty priests n Bishop's under Indian Penal Code !!!

It is necessary to take action against male and female religious heads for their interference in all matters, taking political and business lead inspite of their are duties specified in the scriputure or in their organisation, It is not human rights violations but it is discipling them. The ex Bishop should have been sacked immediately and the nun should have raised her voice in the interrnal forum. otherwise she should have quit the congregation. In orderr to keep dignity of religion the so called people eitheer sacked or disciplined.Therre are still many who are like in nature should be dispatched to their respective places. otherwise they spoil spirituality of the religions. Jesus on sexual abuses in youth and church.

Our Lord's message to John Leary.

    Thursday, June 7, 2018:...

Jesus said: “My people, you have seen how your schools are corrupting your children with sexual education at young ages, even about homosexual and transgender people. You are seeing drug overdoses and suicides of young people. Many young adults are being influenced with drugs and pornography. Now some of your people want marijuana legalized, but this could further destroy the minds of your youth. It is hard to get your young adults to pray, come to Mass, and come to Confession because they are being distracted by the evil things of your society. Protect your children from abuse, abortion, and pray for their souls, especially all the children in your own families.”

Jesus said: “My people, it is sad when young children are abused by anyone, but especially when it is a priest. Homosexual priests are also a problem in My Church. These situations may only be a small percentage of all the priests, but it puts a bad light on My priest sons when a few fall into such sins. You have a shortage of priests, so you need to pray for more vocations to the priesthood, and that your active priests remain faithful to their vocations.”

    God in control of everything.

Our Lord's message to Valentina, Sydney.
    27 July 2019

Valentina, people are talking and wondering why you have such changeable weather all over the world. I tell you now, you are all going through the last pages of the book I spoke to you, in John, the Book of Revelation and the period of changes in the world. History is about to change forever.”

“I, the Lord, Myself,” He said moving His holy hand in a sweeping circle, “am doing this.”

“I keep shifting your courses of history and they are disturbing your weather and the nature is confused. Even science cannot find an answer as to why all this is happening. Drastically, they are moving and disturbing your planet, until mankind realises that it is God in control of everything, but man is blind and will remain blind and they have no knowledge of My Creation because they are not spiritual enough to discern right from wrong.”

“These disturbing events will persist and will bring catastrophic disasters, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, floods, droughts, heat waves, icy weather, storms and so on, but still this will not awaken people to pray and to change men’s hearts. Their hearts will remain icy cold but this will not change them because their pride will prevent them from doing so, until My fire will come from Heaven to cleanse all evil from this sinful world.”

Some people here are going by their 'seeking justice' mindset.

There are major differences between a diocesan priest and the religious congregations.

Diocesan priests are not part of a congregation.

Religious congregations are like Benedictines, Carmelites, Jesuits, Capuchins, A.C., Bethany sisters, etc.

The members of the congregations live as a community, where there are superiors (at house, province, international, etc). All members have to take vows of obedience, poverty, etc.

NO ONE FORCES THEM TO TAKE VOWS. But if you want to become a member of that group, you need to take vows, and follow them. Just like a contract at the workplace.

Diocesan priests do not take such vows.

Once cannot live in the community house disobeying the rules. Such persons must be kicked out.

What rules !!!!!!. A crime has been committed, and it has to be dealt with by the Justice system. No internal enquiries , pardon etc . A full investigation by the police and whoever is guilty should be prosecuted, otherwise people will lose faith in the clergy and the Justice system. Money , power and Goondaism should not be allowed to influence this case . Justice should be blind!!!

Those rules are MAN-made rules which have no valid points these days. What contract you are talking about?
God does not force you to serve HIM with condition. He wants you to serve HIm from your own wish and will. Do you mean a God-loving person is not supposed to complain or agitate when something happens against his / her wish? Keeping quiet is making the culprit to victimize the victim more and more. When the Church does not take any action against the rapist and protect him, the victim and her supporters have to raise their voice. In this case the nuns were forced to go police and media. Don't blame them.

Jesus on judging others and religious.

Our Lord's message to John Leary.

    Sunday, September 2, 2018:
    ...
Jesus said: “My people, in the Gospel I spoke of all the filthy sins that come out of your hearts as sinners. Many people are quick to judge others’ bad actions, but they quickly forget their own sins. I am the only One to judge all sinners, so avoid judging others. Recently, you have been seeing some clergy accused of abusing young children, and some of these events happened years ago. It has been a bad example that many of these cases were hidden from the public, and possible prosecution. Since all of you are sinners, you all need to pray for sinners and especially for your priests who are being criticized. So instead of judging or criticizing others, you all need to practice what you preach without being hypocrites. Given good example to everyone, because your actions are seen by people on earth, and all of us in heaven.”

Do you still want nuns to be raped and other nuns to be mute? Wake up man, we are in the 21st century. If we treat men and women are equal, let's treat priests and nuns too are equal. She bought a car but still lives in a convent, which is commendable. She does not live in her own house. In my opinion she did not break any congregation rules,
