Udupi, Feb 2: Infant Jesus Church, Modankap and John Miranda, Moodbidri have emerged winners of the second edition of Crib Photo Contest 2019 jointly organized by Daijiworld Udupi, Kishoo Enterprises and Uzward Forthrightly.

The 'Godali Sadagara' contest received very good response from the public. Out of more than 300 entries, the best ones made it to the top 6 spots in each category. The competitions were held in two categories - individual and group.

Fr Royson Fernandes, editor of Uzward Konkani Fortnightly said, "I congratulate everyone who participated in the crib competition. Each one was unique and special in their own way. Hard work and creativity was evident. May such competition draw us towards Jesus and make him centre of our lives.

Individual: Consolation: Deepa Noronha, Udupi


Individual: Consolation: Naveen Mathias, Sultanate, Oman

"Christmas crib is a symbolic representation of birth of Jesus. St Francis of Assisi created the first crib in Greece in 1223 AD. That included his friars and animals. Crib retells the salvation history, where God sent his own son Jesus to this world. Thus, the whole Christmas event comes alive. Today, people use their creativity and make unique cribs," he added.

The contest was supported by GSJ Builders Santhekatte, S Nut Cashews, Udupi and Mangaluru, Souza Electronics and Furniture, Harsha, Tauro refrigeration servicing centre, Alwyn Bakery, Saud Tours and Travels, Shirva, Jerome Sandra Britto and family.

In the group category, cash prizes of Rs 5,000, Rs 4,000 and Rs 3,000 with trophy and certificate will be given to the winners respectively. Three consolation prize winners will get Rs 1,000 each with trophy and certificate.

In the individual category, Rs 4,000, Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 with trophy and certificate will be given to the winners respectively. Three consolation prize winners will get Rs 1,000 each with trophy and certificate.

Date and time of the award ceremony will be announced shortly.

    Awesome, this reminds me of my participation in crib making in Holy Family Church, Brahmavara when I was studing in Nirmala Primary School. Such a great memories.
