Mangaluru, Dec 26: In a tragic development related to the gas cylinder explosion that occurred on December 8 at Khandige in Manjanady village, a critically injured teenage girl has succumbed to her injuries, raising the death toll to two.

Zuleikha Mahdiya, a class 9 student at Montepadavu Government School, passed away on Thursday December 26. The incident had earlier claimed the life of her mother, Khubra, on December 13.

The explosion happened while the family was asleep, engulfing their house in flames. Khubra and her three children—Zuleikha Mahdiya, Maziya, and Mayiz—sustained severe injuries and were admitted to a private hospital in Deralakatte for treatment.

It seems the family members didn't close the stove valve properly and also forgot to close the main valve of the cylinder. This incident appears to have happened due to gas leakage. Rest in peace to the deceased.
