Chikkamagaluru, Feb 23: In a shocking incident a pregnant woman was found murdered with her throat slit on February 17 in Kadur here. It has now come to light that she was murdered allegedly by her husband, a doctor by profession. The accused later killed himself.
Dr Revanth allegedly killed his wife Kavita as he had an affair with another woman, sources said. He then allegedly committed suicide by coming under a running train, as he was reportedly scared to face the police inquiry. The murder and suicide have resulted in an infant and a toddler being orphaned.
Dr Revanth, a dentist by profession, allegedly had an illicit relation with a woman. His wife Kavita had warned him against it several times. However, he continued his relationship with the said woman. Ultimately he decided to finish off his wife in order to live with his paramour, it is alleged.
Kavita's murder was planned meticulously by her husband five days prior to her killing, sources said. It is learnt that Dr Revanth bought jewellery for his wife on February 17. When the couple reached home after buying jewelry, Dr Revanth stuffed cloth into Kavita's mouth and gave her an injection on her stomach. Kavita fell unconscious within minutes, after which he dragged her to the car shed and slit her throat in front of their six-month-old baby, sources said.
After killing Kavita, Dr Revanth is said to have put doormats around Kavita's body in order to prevent the blood from flowing. When their elder child, who is five years old, asked him about the mother, Dr Revanth allegedly lied that she had gone to the washroom. He then took both his children to his clinic.
Dr Revanth had filed a police complaint stating that some assailants had entered his house and killed his wife and escaped with her jewellery, and also shed tears in front of friends, relatives and the police. However, the post-mortem report brought the heinous act out in open.
The post-mortem report stated that she was given an injection before being murdered. When the police zeroed-in on Dr Revanth, he allegedly killed himself by jumping in front of the train near the Masala Dhaba of Kadur. The tragedy is that both children - one six months old and another five years old - have been orphaned.
