A net had been placed over the well, and the foul smell emanating from it led to the discovery of the dead leopard. Upon receiving the information, forest department officials, led by forest officer Raju Perumbala, arrived at the spot and conducted an investigation.
Leopards have been sighted in various areas over the past few months. A month ago, a leopard was found dead after being trapped in a snare near Pandi. The presence of leopards in the forest area under the Muliyar Gram Panchayat limits has been confirmed, but forest officials have been unable to capture them despite their efforts.
