PGI-Chandigarh to train SAARC health professionals on COVID-19


Chandigarh, Apr 19 (IANS): A 10-day capacity building program on COVID-19 to SAARC health professionals will be broadcasted online from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh, it was announced on Sunday.

The program will be organised by the Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, the PGI said.

It has been selected by the Ministry of External Affairs for conducting this capacity building program.

The program will disseminate the best and replicable practices along with experiences of India to contain COVID-19 pandemic.

Healthcare professionals from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Mauritius, Nepal, Seychelles and Sri Lanka will participate in it.

PGI Director Jagat Ram underscored the importance of this flagship program in this challenging situation where all countries across the globe are struggling to find the solutions to address COVID-19 pandemic.

He said the program initiated by Sonu Goel, Professor, Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, would help SAARC countries to effectively plan and manage the corona situation.
