Udupi: 18-year-old girl, youth go missing; held from Shivamogga

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jun 13: A Muslim youth has allegedly enticed a Hindu girl who recently attained the age of 18 to accompany him away from her family. The Hindu girl living within the limits of Malpe police station here went missing from the house of a relative on Thursday June 11. Her family believed that she had eloped with a Muslim youth.

The girl in question, residing near Brahmavar, used to commute to Udupi daily for her degree education. During this period, she came in contact with a bus driver, who is a resident of Santhekatte. The two fell in love with each other and decided to marry. But the fact that the girl was underage had put paid to their plan.

Azhar

As soon as the girl turned 18, the youth and the girl registered themselves for registered marriage in the registrar's office at Udupi, duly taking care to ensure that the family members did not get wind of their plan. The parents however, came to know about it after noticing the photograph of their daughter on the notice board at the registration office. The parents tried to wean away the girl from the boy by giving her some sound advice.

In the meantime, the youth had come forward to file a police complaint accusing the parents of the girl of keeping her under house arrest. The police had summoned the family of the girl then. The girl told the police then that she would like to accompany her parents. She also said in her statement that the bus driver had cheated her relating to an extent of Rs 40,000. After she also turned hostile against three witnesses to the marriage registration application, the case had ended then and there.

The girl, who was in the house of a relative, went missing all of a sudden on Thursday morning. A complaint has been filed at Malpe police station in this connection. Malpe police had launched a vigorous drive to find out the girl's whereabouts.

When the youth was contacted, he said he was in Hassan and he did not know anything about the girl's plan. Hindu Jagrana Vedike leader Mahesh Bailoor, had claimed that this is a well-planned incident and that the youth had got the girl to elope with him under threat. He said that the Hindu organizations want the police to intensify their investigation and save the girl from the clutches of the boy.

The police have since cracked the case. Malpe police have found the couple from Shivamogga. The accused, identified as Azhar, had lied to the police when they contacted him. He had reportedly told that he was unaware about the girl's whereabouts, which misled the police.

More than the religion here, the girl has gone against the wishes of the parent who must have toiled to bring up their child.
She may be now 18 years of age but look at the mental agony the parents might be going through in a society which still considers these type of acts as humiliating. The boy is also equally responsible for instigating the girl to run away with him.
As a bus driver he should have limited himself to his work and not tempt a young girl with sex inspired romance. In the worst case he should have married someone from his community as there are plenty of unmarried muslim girls too.
Both of them have given room for tension and misunderstanding in the society. Law may not be able to do much here but social norms if not followed should be condemned.

Most of the youngsters think that marriage is the main part in life
They also think that after marriage life will be roses on bed
But but this will be only for few days
After most of the couple come to the conclusion that biggest blunder I committed in my life
Therefore youngsters please concentrate on your studies
Try to achieve something in life
    Do good to the society
Be a model to the society
    Marriage is not everything
Many highest personalities became successful without marriage
    St Paul clearly tells
If you marry you will try your best to please and keep happy your partner
    This is exactly true
If you don't marry you will contribute your life to the society
One example is Our former PM atal Bihari vajpayee
    And another APJ Abdul Kalam
    Sir m vishweshwarsyya
    Etc etc

Show me one Bollywood Kollywood movie where the sole intention of a boys & girls existence is not to lose his or hers & they have soft songs to glorify the losing. This is what happens when children are brought up as semi athiests where due to social interactions & environment an unintentional mindset builts up where sole intention of ones birth is to marry or love. There are many many many things other than this & this is only a microscopic part.

They are not married in the registrar of marriages office. They registered themselves by filling the application for marriage with three witnesses on application form. When duly filled application is received, the registrar puts on notice board, the particulars about boy and girl with photographs to make sure that there are no objections from anybody. It remains on the notice board for a month, and if no admissible objections, the marriage of the couple is registered. The moment marriage is registered, the registrar removes their names and particulars from notice board. Here, the girls parents sow their photos on notice board, before the marriage.

    Dear Anthony,
Just think for a moment, if it had happened to your sister or daughter, would you say that? "What rights the community (in this case, Hindu Jagarana Vedike) have on this matured boy or girl ? They married as per constitutional rights"?

It is natural, community to get involved and support, same or worse things would have done by Muslim community if that girl was Muslim, nothing wrong in that. It is common in every community (except Christian community, who are least bothered about such things). Why you are worried, be happy with you bottle and Dukra mas!

It s their parents matter .They should have well guided the youths before going to this stage or parents should find with the police what made them elope, not Any uncultured Right wing organization .
Right wing should first question big people before troubling these poor youths
Whom Smriti Irani married , Subramaiam Swamy’s , Muktar Ahmed , Shahnawaz Hussain , All these big leaders have right to marry their and their kids with other religion and why cant the poor people have this right ,

In all the cases there was no running or eloping or police compkaint. So don't try to be over smart. Here the boy was behind this girl before she was 18 so the POSCO rule can be applied against him. You can't dictate who should take up the matter or not. It is left to parents whether they take help of right or left or centre organisation.

Parents living in Villages must take care of their daughter's while sending them to college.

There are many road romeos as well as religious bigots who wants to destroy a family misusing a law. In case of inter faith marriage the law must have a provision in case of objection from parents of the Girl or boy between the age group of 18 to 25years must be disconnected at least for a year. They must be living in their respective house to understand if the decision what they are going to take is well thought or not. This way many poblems can be sorted.

We can't force them to marry someone the parents choose when the bride is not happy. Hindu Muslim they will at least live more peacefully than our current society. We need to get out from the old century and start accepting these things, hopefully if we start accepting these atleast the wedding can take place in happiness with everyones family and friends
