Mangaluru: BC Road - Addahole highway work - tender trifurcated

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jun 19: The highways authority has decided to trifurcate road widening and concreting of national highway 75 stretch between Addahole and B C Road to make it easier for tender.

The work was in the past entrusted to L&T company. The single tender was dropped as it was found that a single company finds execution of the work hard and as there were problems in obtaining clearances from various departments. Now, three tenders have been floated. In case of two packages, the tender process has been completed. For the other package, the tender is expected to be finalised within a week.

L&T had got tender for completing concreted wide road from Addahole to B C Road for Rs 821 crore. But there was delay in land acquisition and ministries failed to give clearances on time. At the sametime, the highways department planned to drop 16 km stretch from the purview of the tender because of forest department objections. Therefore, the company had backed out from executing this contract.

This project envisages widening of the road of 63 km from Addahole in Shiradi to Bantwal. MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, said that two of the tenders in this connection have been finalised and that the third one will be concluded within a week.
