UAE imposes zero-rated VAT on medical equipments to ease Covid burden

Abu Dhabi, Sep 2: In a resolution stipulated to mitigate the repercussions of Covid-19 and support the healthcare sector in the economy in the UAE, the cabinet decided that zero-rated value-added tax (VAT) would be imposed on medical equipments like disposable suits, hand sanitizers, face mask, respirators for air purification and gloves.

The meeting was held at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi chaired by the vice-president and Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The ruler also interacted with a number of teaching staff and students virtually with different schools in the UAE.

Sheikh Mohammed credited the Emirate's achievements to education. " Our accomplishments and progress since the foundation of our beloved country started in schools. With education, we shall continue our journey towards the future."

He said that the territory had always placed education in top priority. " The country exerts unwavering efforts to develop the educational system despite all circumstances. The previous school years is the best example of the strength of our educational system and its ability to continue without interruption in the most difficult circumstances."
