Udupi: Attempt on life of AKMS Tours & Travels owner Saifuddin - Case filed

Udupi, Nov 5: A case is filed at Manipal police station as per the complaint raised by Saifuddin on the attempt on his life at his office in Manipal.

According to the details available, Saifuddin (43), son of Abdul Khader, residing at Salmara, A K Cottage, Kodavoor and his friend Akram run AKMS Tours & Travels and have their office at Indrali Laxmindranagar of Shivalli village in the district.

In the complaint, it is alleged that Guddeangadi Santhosh has developed some enmity with Saifuddin on some matters and bus related dealings. Though he is in prison, he has threatened Saifuddin through others and conveyed the same to him.

On November 4, when Saifuddin and Akram were about to leave their office to go to bank at around 12.15 pm, two persons wearing hat, two persons wearing cap, in total five people entered the office of Saifuddin with swords. One of them swung his sword at Saifuddin. As Saifuddin ducked the sword hit the wall. He once again swung the sword, with the intention of killing Saifuddin, but it hit the table as Saifuddin quickly moved backwards. The person, who swung the sword at Saifuddin is identified as Santhosh Poojary of Moodbidri, a painter by occupation.

Manager Umesh and Saifuddin's friend Akram screamed at the sudden attack by people on Saifuddin. Hearing the screams of manager Umesh and Akram, Ansar of adjacent hotel and other customers rushed to the office. On seeing the crowd, all five escaped from the spot in a chocolate-coloured Duster car bearing registration number KA 19 MD 4208, along with the driver of the car.

A case under Sl no 198/2020 and column 143, 144, 147, 148, 504, 506, 307 and 149 IPC is registered at Manipal police station.
