Mangaluru, Jan 7: Dakshina Kannada district Youth Congress president Mithun Rai is among the seven candidates who are vying with each other for bagging the post of the state Youth Congress president. Rai had earlier fought the parliamentary election from Dakshina Kannada constituency on behalf of the Congress but lost.

The election this time has kicked up lot of interest as strong candidates are sweating it out this time. The election will be held between January 10 to 12 online.

Youth Congress membership in the state is around four lac. Mohammed Haris Nalapad, son of eminent MLA, N A Haris, Youth Congress social media and media coordinator Raksha Ramaiah and NSUI state president Manjunath are among the candidates deemed as quite strong.

A committee including the national president of the Youth Congress had conducted an interview at Delhi. Nine people were interviewed and seven were chosen for the final fight.

Mithun has already started his campaign through the social media.

The BJP has given the post of the state BJP president to Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP from here. Therefore, it would be interesting to see whether Mithun also will be able to rise to the position of the state youth president of the party. So far, no one from Dakshina Kannada district has been elected to this post.
