Mangaluru: Day-long district level kabaddi tournament inaugurated

Mangaluru, Sep 22: Secretary of Catholic Board of Education, Mangalore diocese Fr Anthony Michael Shera inaugurated the day-long district level kabaddi tournament 2022-23 for boys and girls of high school category here at St Aloysius English medium school ground, Urwa on Thursday September 22.

The kabaddi tournament is organized by Dakshina Kannada district zilla panchayat joint director office (administrative), School Education and Literacy department, block education office Mangaluru north and St Aloysius English medium school Urwa.

Addressing the gathering, Fr Anthony Michael Shera said, “Young boys and girls who are part of this tournament need to have positive attitude. Playing to defeat the opposition is not a good attitude, but we need to play for the team’s victory.”

Former District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai said, “The recent development in the district is filled with negatives. In the midst of it, when we have such good tournament where children are taking part, it shows that our country is filled with harmony.”

Parish priest of Urwa church Fr Benjamin Pinto said, “The tournament will bring out the talents of young children.”

Meanwhile, headmistress St Aloysius English medium school Dr Precilla D’Souza was felicitated.

Corporator Ganesh Kulal, BEO Mangaluru north Sadananda Poonja, Sudhakar K, Rajalaxmi, Usman, Aloysius D’Souza, Bhuvanesh, Cheluvamma, Vinoda P Amin and others were present.

Dr Precilla D’Souza welcomed the gathering, Pramila Mukesh compered the event and Pramod rendered the vote of thanks.
