Bengaluru, Sept 26: KPCC Chief D K Shivakumar on Monday called on former Chief Minister S M Krishna in the Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru to inquire about his health.

Shivakumar has appealed to all not to visit the former Chief Minister in the Hospital as he is recuperating from respiratory problems and needs complete rest.

Is Bommai CM only for Lingayats?

The KPCC Chief criticised the State Government for its failure to ensure trouble-free Ambulance Service under Helpline 108. "This is yet another instance and proof of the Basavaraj Bommai-led BJP government’s failure,’’ he said pointing out that under the BJP rule in the State not just farmers and workers but even sick persons and patients are unsafe.

Sharply attacking Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr K Sudhakar’s statement blaming the Congress party’s PayCM campaign on the corruption issues under the Bommai rule as an attempt to destabilise a Lingayat Chief Minister, Shivakumar wondered whether Bommai is Chief Minister for the entire State and all the people or only the Lingayat community to which he belongs and asked whether his only qualification to occupy the top post was his caste affiliation, Shivakumar said the Congress party is only highlighting the problems faced by the people and the various corruption scandals dogging the Bommai government and there is no question of singling out any particular community.

"We have every right to criticise the government and attack its failures as also raise the corruption issues. There is no question caste or religion in this,’’ he declared.
