Mangaluru Sep 26: The grand Dasara celebration was inaugurated at Kudroli Gokarnatheshwara temple on Monday September 26.
Dasara Mahostava will be held from September 26 to October 6 with various cultural and spiritual programmes.
Idols of goddesses Navadurga and Sharada were installed.
As part of the Dasara festival, every afternoon at 12.30 pm, there will be Pushpalankara Mahapooja, from 7 to 8 pm Bhajana programme, and after 8.30 pm Shri Devi Puspakalankara Pooja, Annadana, and evening cultural programmes will be held. Bali Utsava will also be held. Various types of spiritual rituals will be held for the deity all on the nine days,. The grand procession of Dasara celebration will begin on October 5 at 4 pm.
The procession will pass through the main roads of the city. All the Dasara events and the grand procession of Dasara will be held under the leadership of former union minister Janardhana Poojary.
Mangaluru City Corporation will illuminate prominent places of the city. Highest number of devotees is expected to witness the grand Dasara celebrations this time as there was no grand celebration due to the pandemic for the last two years.
Navaratri festival in coastal districts
Grand Navaratri celebrations are going to begin in twin districts from September 26. All temples have geared up for the occasion.
Special poojas will be offered for nine days and on the 10th day Vijayadashami will be celebrated. All the temples are decorated with lightings and flowers.
Navaratri will be celebrated with devotion and gaiety in Sri Mangaladevi temple, Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari temple, Polali Sri Rajarajeshwari temple, Bappanadu Sri Durgaparameshwari temple and others.
Sarvajanika Sri Sharada Mahotsava of Car Street, which is celebrating centenary, will be held with grandeur.
In Udupi, Devi will be offered flowers at Sri Krishna Math. Special poojas will be offered in temples of Kollur, Mandarti, Ucchila, Neelavara, Nandikooru, Kunjaru, Kadiyali, Indrani, Bailoor, Puttur, Kannarpadi, Ambalpady and Kukkundoor of Karkala.
Dasara procession will take place at Ucchila. Sharada Mahotsava will be held at various places.
In Kasargod Navratri celebrations will be held at Malla, Pangodu, Korakodu, Meepuguri Bandadka and Bekal temples.
