Panaji, Apr 30: The Goa Khadi and Village Industries Board has successfully implemented the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme Launched by the Ministry of Small Micro and Medium Enterprises, Government of India. The Targets set by the Ministry has been surpassed during the year 2010-11.

Under the scheme 133 new proposals were identified involving the project cost of Rs 873.50 Lakhs. 120 proposals with the project cost of Rs 724.33 Lakhs have been sanctioned which involve the subsidy component of Rs 237.08 Lakhs. Out of these proposals, the Board has disbursed subsidy of Rs 191.34 Lakhs to 95 proposals with the project cost of Rs 576.75 Lakhs. These projects are expected to generate employment to 604 persons.

Keeping in view the response received during the year 2010-11, the Goa KVIB has requested for enhanced budget provisions during the year 2011-12 under PMEGP.

The PMEGP is one of the most beneficial programme for entrepreneurship, which can be undertaken in the rural as well as in the urban areas. The beneficiaries are entitled for subsidy from 15% to 35% depending upon the category of the borrower and the location of the project.
