Mangaluru: National conference on nursing administration inaugurated

Mangaluru, Oct 15: The national conference on ‘Grass root to global: Building the science to guide nursing administration leadership and decision making’ was inaugurated here at TMA Pai hall on Saturday October 15.

The event was organized by Trained Nurses Association of India Karnataka state branch in association with Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district nursing colleges.

Addressing the gathering, pro-chancellor MAHE Manipal Dr H S Ballal said, “Nursing profession is an important component of health delivery. The contribution by nursing profession during pandemic is immense. I bow my head for the service provided by nurses to get over pandemic which has ruffled the entire world.

“When you participate in such conferences, you will have a learning experience. It is a continuous process. Nurses are the backbone of health care facility. There is an acute shortage of nurses,” said Dr H S Ballal.

President of Indian Nursing Council New Delhi Dr T Dileep Kumar delivered the keynote address on the topic ‘Nursing scenario in India’.

Meanwhile, a session was conducted on ‘Advancement in technology to address health care access shortage’ by Saroja Jayakumar, chief of nursing services Manipal Hospital, Varthur road Bengaluru. Session on ‘Need for nurse leaders to prepare innovative inter professional health care delivery’ by professor Manipal College of Nursing Manipal Dr Anice George and session on ‘Clinical decision making and judgement’ by Swapna S Joshi, retired professor and nursing superintendent, TATA memorial centre and vice president TNAI (west region) Mumbai were also conducted.

Vice chancellor Yenepoya deemed to be university Mangaluru Dr M Vijayakumar, pro vice chancellor Nitte University Mangaluru Dr M S Moodithaya, chancellor Srinivas University Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, president of Trained Nurses’ Association of India Karnataka state branch Dr ATS Giri and others were present.

Advisor Dr UT Ifthikar Ali, organising secretary Dr Sandhya D Almeida, media in charge Dr Veena G Tauro, conference coordinator Dr Hemalatha R, scientific committee Dr Theresa L Mendonca and others were present.

Organizing chairperson Dr Larissa Martha Sams welcomed the gathering.
