Mangaluru/Udupi, Oct 16: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday, October 16, reported eight new coronavirus cases while three cases were registered in Udupi.

The total number of positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,37,111, out of which 26 are currently active. As many as four patients were discharged on October 16.

No deaths were reported on October 16. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,861.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house.
Positivity rate for the day stood at 1.16 percent.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,05,880 as fine in 96,212 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

Three coronavirus cases were reported on October 16. The total active Covid cases are 20.

A total of 10,90,787 people have received the first dose of vaccination and 10,85,738 have received both doses and 2,95,286 people have received booster doses.

Udupi taluk reported one cases while Kundapura added two infections. All three cases reported were symptomatic.
