Kasargod: Policemen Arrest Woman Trafficking Girls to Gulf

Daijiworld Media Network – Kasargod (SP)

Kasargod, May 5: The policemen of Pathanamthitta have arrested a woman, who they claim, is the mastermind behind a cartel of trafficking girls to the Gulf region. She has been identified as Shahina (28), daughter of Sauda, living in Sahana Manjil in Kulashekhar Pattikupli Veetil, Pathanamthitta. A team led by inspector general, Padmakumar, arrested her.

The policemen said that Sahina’s mother was also involved with this racket. A neighbouring girl had complained to the police about Shahina’s activities. The complainant said that in 2007, Shahina had made herself and six other girls from the region to believe that they would be employed in the Gulf as sales girls. After sending them through a flight there, they were threatened and forced to engage in immoral activities there, she said, adding that about 300 girls from various parts of Kerala had been shipped in this fashion to the Gulf.

The policemen said that Sauda has been hiding in the Gulf. They have been trying to get details of other girls from Kerala who have been forced to enter the flesh trade in the Gulf through this racket, and to help them come back. Further investigations are on under the leadership of Padmakumar, inspector general of police.
