Mangaluru: Tributes paid to bravehearts on Police Commemoration Day

Mangaluru, Oct 21: The Mangaluru city police, Dakshina Kannada district police and the 7th batallion KSRP Mangaluru unit observed ‘Police Commemoration Day’ at the DAR office on Friday October 21.

The chief guest on the day was Ravindra M Joshi, principal district and session judge, Dakshina Kannada district.

Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar, SP Rishikesh Sonawane, DCP Anshu Kumar and IGP Devajyothi Ray paid homage to the memorial.

The Police Commemoration Day is observed since 1959 on every October 21 in memory of a small contingent of police personnel who were attacked by Chinese troops, which resulted in killing of all the ten police personnel. Since on the fateful day they became martyrs, the day is being observed in their memory.
