Mangaluru: St Mother Theresa Vichara Vedike holds special programme on Deepavali

Mangaluru, Oct 25: “We, who are competing with each other for supremacy of religion and culture, are in darkness today. We have to understand that we all are human beings and do away with this darkness. The life of every individual glows like light when he or she understands that humanity is religion,” said Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangalore diocese.

Dr Saldanha spoke after inaugurating the special programme that was organized on the occasion of Deepavali at Sandesha foundation of Nanthoor by St Mother Theresa Vichara Vedike.

The bishop further said, “Interacting faithfully with one another, loving and respecting others is like the flame of light. This is the message of Deepavali festival.”

Vice chancellor of Mangalore University Prof P S Yadapadithaya said, “Jealousy, anger and poverty are the symbols of darkness. Friendship, love and mutual cooperation are signs of light.”

Roy Castelino, president of the forum, presided over the function. Prizes were distributed to winners of Goodu Deepa competition.

Journalist Mohammed Arif, Sudeep Paul, social worker Manjula Naik, Bejai Lions Club secretary Thomas Simon Pais, leader Ashraf, lawyer Yashawant Maroli, president of Catholic Sabha Stany Lobo, Devdas Vijaya Alfred, Sushil Noronha, Stany Alvares, Kishore Fernandes and Flavy Crasta were present.

Members of Swaranjali music school Yekkur, Walter Albuquerque memorial Kala Natya Muger and Sarigama Trust entertained the crowd with musical programme.

    we hindus celebrate christmas along with our neighbors, bcoz they have mutual love and respect to us, we dont celebrate other festivals because they have hatred against us, simple
