Mangaluru: Man crossing road run over by speeding truck

Mangaluru Oct 26: A 45-year-old man died on the spot after a lorry ran over him while he was crossing the road at Kottara Chowki on Wednesday, October 26.

The deceased has been identified as Ashok, a resident of Akash Bhavan.

It is said that Ashok had parked his vehicle and was crossing the road when the lorry driving at high speed rammed into Ashok. He was taken to a hospital but the doctors declared him brough dead.

The Traffic North Police station has registered a case.

    First of all - We dont have a proper parking zones. - dont have a speed breakers for vehicles. - dont have zeebra crosing for cross the road. - dont have a proper footpaths. - no havy vehicle movement signs. - no speed limits within the city. - no clear roads. But people have to take care of their self. While crosing the road or while driving please take care. Safety is first.

    First of all, there are no proper footpaths and Zebra crossings marked for pedestrians to cross the roads safely. For elderly or senior citizens, it's a very hard task to cross in between. the dividers are bit high and to stand or balance yourself is too difficult watching the speeding vehicles. I have totally lost confidence to walk in the busy streets. Now Mangalore is going to be a smart city ?

    Very sad a life lost and who is to blame. Authorities have turned a blind eye to such problems and we citizens struggle to cope....I'm 75 living at kottara chowki and have a fright everytine I go out😥

    even walking on roads in third world countries is dangerous...senseless public...and vehicle drivers...no rules and regulations..corruption from top to bottom

    Strict laws need to be implemented to ensure people cross only at zebra crossing. Here people cross wherever they want and incase of an accident the blame is on the vehicle
