Rome: Easter Celebration Brings Konkani Kutam Together in Italy

Rome, May 9: "Coming together revives our relationships and makes us feel at home even in a distant land," said Dr Cyprian Monis, bishop of Asansol diocese, during the Easter celebrations of Konkani Kutam of Rome, Italy on Sunday May 8.
The Eucharistic celebration was held at Jesuit Curia, Rome, which was presided over by Dr Thomas Lobo, co-adjutor bishop of Calcutta.
Dr Salvador Lobo, bishop of Baruipur diocese presented a meaningful homily. He said, "Whenever we are pessimistic, and challenged by problems, the resurrection of Christ gives us new hope to be optimistic."
Fr Peter Paul Saldanha introduced the bishops and accorded a warm welcome. Br Rockwin Pinto with his team ensured better participation in the Eucharistic celebration with the melodious choir.
After the Eucharistic celebration a cultural programme was organized and Fr Rajesh Rosario extended a warm welcome to the gathering and to the bishops in a special manner in which those who were away due to work commitments were also remembered. The celebrations also twinned with a special references and dedication to Mother's day.
Dr Cyprian Monis delivered an Easter message and encouraged all to continue this family spirit with such get-togethers. The family spirit was enchanted with Fr Peter Paul Saldanha and team entertaining with melodious Konkani songs.
Recognition and gratitude along with a heartfelt farewell was extended to outgoing member Sr Thelma D’Paula, Sisters of Charity. Hilary Crasta, proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Thomas Lobo said grace before meals. Fr Stephen Vaz compered the programme. The committee members Br Antony Crasta, Nancy Pinto and Susheela Rodrigues organized the programme. The traditional food marked the festive atmosphere, which added joy in enriching and preserve the Konkani heritage.
