Mumbai, May 10: The anniversary festivities connected with the consecration of Barkur Kachchur Lord Nageshwara Temple was organized on a grand scale on Sunday May 8. On this occasion, Bhandary Mahamandal was inaugurated.
Karkala MLA, H Gopal Bhandary, inaugurated the new entity by unveiling its plaque. Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji of Odiyoor was present. The Mahamandal will function as the apex union for all the organizations of Bhandary community spread all over the world.
The Mahamandal has been set up for achieving social, religious, educational, financial, and cultural progress of Bhandary community. Well-known entrepreneur from the metro, Suresh Bhandary Kadandale, who also is a social worker, was elected its president. Somashekhar M was chosen as the general secretary, while U Satish Bhandary became its treasurer. Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji, who lighted the lamp, blessed the new organization.
The Swamiji exhorted the people to give topmost importance to ethics and spirituality in their lives. He advised them to lead a refined life, and hand over their culture to the future generation. While observing that a good society can be built by providing refinement to the children and creating in them awareness about righteousness, he extended his best wishes to Suresh Bhandary.
In his address, Suresh Bhandary asked the community members to strive to provide good education to their children, and to impart to them culture, refinement, and way of living of Tulunadu. He wanted the Bhandary community to come together through the temple, serve the society, and to work through the organization to achieve further progress of their community. “We need to make our community a strong one,” he stressed.
H Gopal Bhandary observed that people from Karnataka coast living in Mumbai have greatly contributed to the progress of their native places. While observing that people of Bhandary community are intelligent, knowledgeable, and talented, he said they are not economically a strong force to reckon with. He said it is the duty of every one to bring up their children as educated, conscious, and good citizens. “We are coming together not for friction, but to achieve our own progress. Let us love and respect other communities, and at the same time, lead our community to further heights,” he said.
A J Institute of Medical Sciences Mangalore chairman and managing director, A J Shetty, praised the Bhandary community for striving for the upliftment of their community by building an organization.
On this occasion, Suresh Bhandary and his wife, Shobha Suresh Bhandary, were accorded a grand felicitation by placing a huge garland around them, placing a Peta on their heads, draping a shawl, and handing over mementos.
Shivaram Bhandary of Shiva’s Stylo Mumbai, Padmanabh Bhandary of Rahul Logistics Private Ltd, managing trustee of Kachchur Lord Nageshwara Temple, Dinesh Kumar Haleangady, anniversary committee secretary, Subhas Bhandary, treasurer, Padmabnabh Bhandary, and many others were present.
Madhav Kuloor, president and member of renovation committee and Seva Trust respectively, welcomed. General secretary of Mahamandal, Somashekhar Bhandary and Shashidhar, presented the programme. Earlier to the programme, Rajangana, gifted by Ratna Sanjeeva Bhandary and Shobha Suresh Bhandary Kadandale in memory of the late Bajagoly Sanjeev Bhandary, was inaugurated by Sadanand Gowda.
