Using of force to overcome addiction can be definitely counter productive; only tender loving care, counseling, group therapy, and medications for associated depression and anxiety can help in overcoming the addiction! Joining AA groups has been found to be very much beneficial for many to permanently give up addiction!!

RIP! It's still not fully understood why only certain people get heavily addicted to alcohol while many drink it responsibly! People suffering from depression and anxiety fall easy prey to addictions! Modern times stressors of daily life like joblessness, lack of companionship, insecurities of any kind lead to addiction; additionally, a familial propensity to addiction can also make one an addict!! Unless the addict himself makes a strong decision to leave the addiction no amount of rehabilitation is of much use!

@ Preetham, Farangipet "If most are SUCCUMBED, our population would be a small fraction of what it is now!" May I make you clear something: - - There may be few /some who are drawn into mental depression because of ladies like ypu. - I never requested you to be so inquisitive to pinpoint or highlight some non-logical point of view in my reference as a general talk or in my comments - I am 101% certain and sure that you are a non-existing human (female) Finally, it is none other than Cynthia (who writes in the name of Eva., Ram, Rahim Robert)

There is a difference between consumption and addiction... Every time a man like this ends himself due to over addiction so called teetotalers raise the pitch of their voices... Generations after generations few have consumed responsibly, few have abstained for reasons best known to themselves and very few have drowned themselves in alcohol... Incidents like this spark occasional debates and life moves on... RIP to the departed soul...

Unfortunately none of so called intellectuals and social justice fighters talk about abolishing liquor sale. Many families today are poor just because of drinking habit of the bread winner of their families.

Readers, substance abuse ( Alcohol/ Drugs ) addiction is a disease which can have life threatening ramifications.. Patients must be admitted into a rehabilitation clinic, under the care of a psychiatrist.. The withdrawal symptoms can lead to suicidal tendencies.. Fr Muller's and other hospitals do have facilities to treat such patients.

Shame on the civilisation, once slavery was recognised as a source of revenue for the Conquerors and Rulers . only to get banned in the recent century. Hope Liquor and lottery too will be banned in the near future . .
