Udupi, Nov 7: Karavali Christian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCCI), Udupi, celebrated the decennial celebrations with family get-together on Sunday November 6, at Mandavi Sabha Bhavan here.

Walter Nandalike, managing director, Daijiworld media inaugurated the celebrations by lighting the lamp. Ln Prakash P Soans, Dr Jerry Vincent Dias, honorary president, Santhosh D’Silva, president, and Alwyn Quadros, treasurer, KCCCI were present.

Addressing the gathering, Walter Nandalike said, “This region has more entrepreneurs than Mangaluru, not by number but commitment towards the community. We need such organizations to make our community stronger. KCCCI today is holding its decennial celebrations.”

Recalling well-known entrepreneur and philanthropist Ronald Colaco’s contribution he said, “He was the patron of IFKCA. Udupi region went one step ahead and formed KCCCI. We can see many who work for their family. One who works for his family, will leave this world someday leaving behind his entire wealth to his immediate family members. But if a person works for the society, he will die, but take along the good deeds.”

Remembering the late William Noronha he said, “When he was working aboard, he made sure that maximum members of his family get jobs aboard. Today, we can see majority of his family in many parts of the world.

“Dr Jerry Vincent Dias is not only working for the society, but also spending time in such organizations to make the community stronger. His valuable time to such association speaks about his dedication towards the community. Along with him, whoever has joined this evening here, is also dedicated to do something for the society and the community.

“Today, our community is in danger not because of others, but because of our thoughts. We think only about ourselves. How many of our community members can be seen in the IAS, IPS, and KAS and especially in political parties? If we have representative in all of these, then you can imagine how strong our community will be in the coming days. Today, we may not have much problems, but over the years, definitely we will be in some trouble. So far we have been supporting any one of the political parties, but more people have to come forward to join as many as major political parties which can make our community find some representation in all major places,” he said.

Nandalike also requested all entrepreneurs to make youngsters depend on themselves.

Dr Jerry Dias, honorary president of the KCCCI in his message said, “How fast we have reached the decennial year. For the first three years, Ronald Colaco gave his best to build this organization, and due to that, today we have a strong team.

“On many occasions, I have advised our community entrepreneurs to come forward to be a builder. Let us not go with the percentage, but with the quality of the products. I have been personally contributing and helping many who are in need which gives me happiness and satisfaction at the end of the day.

“We have travelled to Kundapur and Karkala to add members to associations. I have come with my children and grandchild. We are not involving our children in our business at this stage, but there is more focus on giving them education and sending them aboard.

“After returning from the Gulf, I did not think of becoming a big builder, but started with a small aim. I am happy to say that when i was working in the Gulf, I was working in labour class and being in that place, I have put in my best efforts to help others find jobs there. I am happy to say that more than thousand families are benefited due to my projects and in the coming days, more number of families will be benefited through my new projects,” he said.

Prakash P Soans aid, “We need to put more efforts to make superior things. Making customers happy is the need of the hour. All industries have competitors and we need to take everybody together. If we are united, then we can be strong.” He further explained how one association can help each other being together during the tough times and how all will be benefited.

During the celebrations, the association members and children were honoured.

Prior to the programme, Samantha and Delicia Mascarenhas led the prayer.
