Sudhakar claims Congress has done nothing for Vokkaligas

Bengaluru, Nov 8: Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Tuesday asserted that BJP does not believe in appeasement politics like Congress and always adheres to all-encompassing and all-covering principles.

Speaking after inspecting the arrangements for the erection of Bengaluru Founder Kempe Gowda’s bronze statue by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 11 at Devanahalli in the Kempe Gowda theme park at Bengaluru International Airport Ltd, he said the Congress has done precious little for the Vokkalinga community.

Dr Sudhakar, who himself is a Vokkaliga and joined BJP after quitting Congress along with others to help B S Yediyurappa becoming the Chief Minister, charged that the Congress party indulged in appeasement politics for 60 years and said the opposition party was disappointed after the developmental works implemented by BJP.

“BJP never followed caste, religion based or gender centric politics,’’ he said all-encompassing and all-covering as well welfare of all is Modi’s mantra.

Dr Sudhakar warmly welcomed the Supreme Court decision on reservation for the economically backward people and said such a bold decision could be taken only by BJP. “The Congress or JD(S) cannot even think of such radical and revolutionary measures,’’ he said.

“Though Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda hailed from the Vokkalga community, he was the leader of all communities,’’ he said claiming that ``Congress party has done nothing for the Vokkaliga community. It insulted the community’s tallest and popular leaders like former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda and former Chief Minister S M Krishna and others. The Congress has never explained why the leaders were ousted from power.’’

The minister also said the proposal to install Kempe Gowda’s statue in front of BIAL, named after Kempe Gowda, was first mooted by former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and it has now been implemented by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

He held that the political comments by Congress leaders must never be taken seriously. “We welcome all Congressmen who wish to join BJP after accepting the party’s ideology,’’ he said pointing out two former MPs Muddahaume Gowda and Shashi Kumar and a retired IAS officer as well as three ex-MLAs of Kolar and Chikkaballapur district had recently joined BJP.
