Shirahatti (Gadag), Nov 8: The Congress leaders divided the nation into two parts, tried to make Punjab into Khalistan and the same party that breaks the country into pieces is now doing Bharat Jodo Yatra, ridiculed Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday, November 8.

Addressing the Jan Spandana Yatra organised by BJP at Shirahatti in Gadag district, he said former minister and Congress MLA Satish Jarkiholi has termed 'Hindu' as 'Holasu' (dirty) to appease the minorities.

“Satish has insulted the Hindus of India. Our Hindu religion is not only old but has a rich heritage and culture. They wanted to have a discussion on this subject. What's there to discuss,” he asked.

Former AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi or Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Siddaramaiah have not condemned the statement, he said asserting that the BJP will hit back when it comes to the question of India's identity.’

Congress dreaming of coming to power

Bommai said the voters have given overwhelming support for BJP. As the Congress cannot be without power they formed the government through the backdoor, which did not become successful.

The Congress leaders use power for their selfish reasons and they have started dreaming of coming back to power in the State. The people must decide to send them back home.

"Divide and rule is the Congress policy. The previous Congress government led by Siddaramaiah divided religion and ruled the State. Now they are into dividing religion. The Congress has done injustice to the minorities and its leaders have looted the wakf property and a report to this effect has been placed in both houses of the State Legislature, he said adding, the loot of wakf property will be probed thoroughly.

Gadag-Yelavadi Rail Project

The Chief Minister said the Gadag-Yelavadi railway project will be implemented with State Government giving its share of Rs 600 crore. Efforts will be made for the train to pass through Shiratti.

He said approval for Tamagonda project will be given soon and Jaalawadagi irrigation scheme will be started soon.

Steps will be taken to develop Shirahatti and Mundargi as tourism spots, he said.

All Lambani tandas will be declared as revenue villages within a month and distribute title deeds for every house in tanda in a month. All their demands will be fulfilled, he said.

Bommai said Rs 1 crore grant for Kanakadasara Auditorium at Shirahatti will be released soon.

Already, the government has distributed input subsidies of Rs 209 crore to 1.2 lakh farmers of Gadag district towards crop loss due to rains. Besides, Rs 97 crore crop insurance money has been disbursed for the district. A sum of Rs 159 crore has come to Gadag under the PM Kisan scheme.

Former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, Ministers Govind Karjol, C C Patil, B C Patil, B Sriramulu and MP Shivakumar Udasi were present.

Administrator for Murugha Math

Later, speaking to media persons at Hosadurga in Chitradurga district, Bommai said the State Government will take a decision on the demand for appointing an administrator for the Murugha Math after receiving the report from the Revenue Department.

He declined to comment on the sexual molestation case against the jailed Murugha Math seer as the case was pending before the court.
