Udupi, Nov 9: “Wooing minorities and suppressing Hindus has been the culture of Congress from the times of Nehru. Their indecent minds can be seen through their statements,” said MLA K Raghupati Bhat.
He was speaking in the protests held opposing the statement by Satish Jarkiholi that the meaning of the word Hindu in Persian language is indecent.
“Hindu is an exciting word. But Congress is making anti Hindu statements every time and is creating political conspiracy against Hindu religion. Congress people had decided to break Rama Setu and said that Rama is an imaginative person.”
“The Congress has not informed its stand about the statement by Satish Jarkiholi. He should apologise to the country. Otherwise he should be dismissed from the post of Congress secretary. Large scale protests will be held otherwise,” he warned.
BJP district president Kuilady Suresh Nayak said that the statement shows the mentality of Congress people. “BJP and every Hindu condemn it. The statement of Congress people right from Nehru till Satish Jarkiholi has been the same. Congress people have been against Hindus since the beginning. Insulting and playing with the sentiments of Hindus shows their low mentality.”
“Satish Jarkiholi has said that he will not apologise and said that he saw the meaning of Hindu as indecent in Wikipedia. There are different statements about Nehru and Indira Gandhi in it. If it is made public, people will hit them with footwear,” he said.
“Congress had made controversial statements about Rama Mandir, Rama Setu and Kashmir hurting the sentiments of Hindus. The word indecent only applies to Congress activists and not to any of the Hindu people,” he said.
Mysore Industries Limited president Uday Kumar Shetty, Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, district Ladies morcha president Veena Shetty, district SC morcha chief secretary Dinakar Babu, city BJP president Mahesh Takur, municipal council president Sumitra Nayak, vice president Laxmi Manjunath and others were present.
