Mangaluru, Nov 11: Zilla panchayat Dakshina Kannada in collaboration with KMC Hospital, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) Deralakatte and Wenlock Hospital organised a health check-up and screening camp for PDOs and officials of Dakshina Kannada rural development department, here on Friday November 11.
After inaugurating the camp, additional chief secretary of rural development and panchayat raj department L K Atheeq said, “Public servants who are into service, due to their hectic schedule, fail to take care of their health. Taking care of our health is important and it is our duty. Public servants have to work with the public and representatives, sometimes which will unknowingly induce stress.
"We cannot identify health conditions sometimes. We fail to focus on it. You should balance your work and health," he said.
He also said that he was pained to hear unnatural deaths of panchayat staff in the district and state. “Hence, I asked the CEO of Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat Dr Kumar to organise this camp. Immediately, Kumar has taken initiative to organise it,” he said.
He further said, “Everyone is a leader in his own field. We should imbibe leadership qualities. Officials should take care of co-workers. Taking care of co-workers and extracting work from them is a moral authority. While extracting work from co-workers, the officials should have compassion, responsibility and care to exercise the power,” he said.
Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat and district administration felicitated L K Atheeq.
Deputy commissioner M R Ravi Kumar, vice chancellor of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) Vijay Kumar, HOD and consultant cardiologist KMC Hospital Mangaluru Dr Padmanabha Kamath were also honoured.
CEO of Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat Dr Kumar welcomed the dignitaries.
