Bengaluru, Nov 11: KPCC Chief D K Shivakumar has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to advise ruling BJP leaders in the State to clean up the corrupt administration and end corruption like filling up potholes on the roads ahead of his visit to the city.

“We expect the Prime Minister to respond to the corruption charges and various complaints on the 40% commission besides a letter from a person seeking permission to end his life unable to bear the commission scam,’’ he said speaking to media persons in Bengaluru on Friday.

When asked what the Congress will do if the Prime Minister does not speak on the corruption charges, he said: “We will decide our future course of action. It cannot be done in five minutes just as a meal cannot be prepared in 5 minutes. We need time to chalk out our strategy.’’

To a question on a cabinet minister’s remark to his suggestion of erecting the Kempe Gowda statue in front of the Kempe Gowda International Airport by the Bengaluru International Airport Ltd authority if it was given earlier, Shivakumar said he had suggested that the BIAL board can easily spend Rs 50 to 60 crore on erecting a statue. But the ruling party and BJP government have their own plans and calculations, he said pointing out that the State Government could have saved tax-payers money.

Shivakumar referred to media reports that the government has spent Rs 48 crore on Modi’s visit to Bengaluru and said people know how the Bommai government is recklessly spending public funds for their self-glorification and further the political interests of BJP.

The KPCC Chief said the repairs and asphalting of roads ahead of Prime Minister’s visit were nothing but an attempt to use public funds to ensure that the BJP’s national leaders do not suffer any discomfort while travelling on the roads.

“This government and the BJP is not interested in public safety as citizens have been dying due to accidents caused by potholes,’’ he said warning that the people will throw this people out in the polls.
