Twitter now lays off 4,400 contractual workers: Report

New Delhi, Nov 14 (IANS): After firing about 50 per cent of Twitter workforce, or about 3,800 employees, Elon Musk has reportedly laid off at least 4,400 contractual workers at the company.

According to reports from Platformer and Axios, the micro-blogging platform is now laying off employees those are on contract.

"Contractors aren't being notified at all, they're just losing access to Slack and email. Managers figured it out when their workers just disappeared from the system," tweeted Platformer's Casey Newton.

"They heard nothing from their leaders," he posted.

Neither Musk nor Twitter reacted to the new wave of layoffs that startedAAover the weekend.

Many found out they weren't working for the company anymore after they abruptly lost access to Twitter's internal systems.

"One of my contractors just got deactivated without notice in the middle of making critical changes to our child safety workflows," one manager posted in the company's internal Slack messaging platform.

Following Twitter's earlier layoffs, many contractors ended up on teams with no full-time staff, leaving no one to sign off on their time sheets, Engadget reported.

Very bad & sad atmosphere...., during the discussion over the weekend with a senior intellectual friend of mine who is working in a very high & responsible position overseas expressed his concern about Hindustani workers... Everywhere there is a hatred approach towards Hindustani employees... No idea why this trend is popping up..., they say many times Hindustani's are silently work against their own company and their superiors...!!!, Keeping hatred & revengeful attitude towards others remotely while showing their niceties in good stead..., Nothing but the reflection/result of purging of the Noble tenets of tenets of REAL Hinduism.., Sorry to see Hindustani's not only become laughing subject, but also a hating matter..., A food for thought....for course correction, parents/teachers play a big role...

Dear friend, your views are far off from the facts and are of agenda based. You took opportunity to blame India and the government with this news and you have no concerns on the people losing their jobs. My India is strong enough to receive and give food and shelter to people returning from abroad. One of my friend who was working in DXB so far lost his job and now he is happily living here in Valencia. He has started veggy & flowers business and flourishing. He has lot of customers for flowers and unable to really meet their demands during festival & wedding season.

Sana' M'lore... Interesting man.... your ability to infer & read the statistics that all layoff's as Hindustani's itself deserve Phd (if not kacchodu P); For your kind info ..no where I mentioned that - redundant employees were fellow Hindustani's.. (have one more chai man - sans gutter gas). Everyone know that Twitter was used by crony's & thug class politicians to serve their ideology & desires...!!!!!, the postings with FEKU identity itself is the testimony to this fact. The impact going to be many cyber yodha's also known as troll army were not only become jobless but also useless...(probably due to cow dung kind of stuff inside their brain)....take care.
