Mangaluru: Handbag theft at auditorium – Accused arrested

Mangaluru, Nov 16: Kavoor police arrested an accused who stole a handbag containing gold ornaments of a woman who participated in a function that was organized in an auditorium in the city.

The arrested accused is identified as Rakesh, originally from Moodushedde, now living in a rented house at Mangaladevi.

A woman, an anganwadi worker, had attended a children's cultural programme that was held on November 14 at Kaup agricultural cooperative society auditorium. She had kept her mobile and gold ornaments in the handbag on a chair. The accused arrived at the auditorium on the pretext of watching the programme and left with the handbag of the woman.

A case was registered by the woman who lost the hand bag. Police have recovered goods worth Rs 65,000 including mobile and gold ornaments.

    Ora manippande kullu marre, mulu enkuleg beleg jana tikkujji. Especially in our coastal belt we do not get locals for jobs like masonary, cleaning etc etc in spite of good payments. So we are dependent on out of state workers. You are saying unemployment a big joke....

    Good payment? What a joke. Engineering graduate in Mangalore gets job offer with not more than 12000 per month salary from reputable firms. That's why despite so many engineering colleges in Mangalore all engineers go abroad now.
