Bantwal, Sep 24: A Zero FIR has been registered at the Vittal police station after a minor girl gave birth to a child at a hospital recently. The police have booked a minor boy from Kerala, who is in conflict with the law, in connection with the case.

According to the press release, the minor girl and the accused were acquainted and kept in touch through their mobile phones. On December 21, 2025, the boy reportedly invited the girl to his residence and sexually assaulted her.

Months later, on September 8, 2026, the girl developed health complications, prompting her family members to take her to a hospital. The following day, on September 9, the minor girl delivered a baby.

Based on the incident, the Vittal police have registered a Zero FIR (Crime No 01/2026) under sections 4, 5(J)(ii), 5(L), and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012, alongside section 64(2)(m) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.

As the alleged crime took place outside their jurisdiction, the Vittal police stated that the case will be transferred to the respective jurisdictional police station for further investigation.
