Kasargod, Nov 17: In a heinous and deplorable incident, a girl who was on the way to the Madrasa was lifted in the air and slammed to the ground by a man in the Madrasa premises at Manjeshwar.

The incident was reported near Udyavar on Thursday, November 17.

The accused is Manjeshwar Kunjathur resident Aboobacker Siddik.

The Manjeshwar station police have arrested him.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning at about 7 am. The 9-year-old girl who was critically injured has been admitted to Mangaluru hospital.

The girl who was thrown down became unconscious and could not get up despite her efforts. The accused fled the spot after the incident. The brutality was witnessed by the girl’s classmates.

Manjeshwar police arrested the accused on the basis of a complaint lodged by the parents of the victim. The CCTV footage of the incident has gone viral on social media and there is a widespread anguish against it.

The state government has taken the incident seriously. Kerala education minister V Shivan Kutty has said that strict action will be taken against the accused.
