Mangaluru, Nov 17: The state government under the 'Viveka Scheme' has decided to construct 7,500 special classrooms in government schools. Recently, the chief minister launched the scheme, said former MLC and spokesperson of BJP Capt Ganesh Karnik.
Taking a dig at Congress leader Priyank Kharge, Karnik said, "Swami Vivekananda was a great saint and philosopher. Even today he is an inspiration to the youth. So his birthday is celebrated as National Youth Day. This was announced by the Congress government. Probably, Priyank Kharge might have forgotten this."
"The government has named the special classrooms programme as 'Viveka Scheme' to acknowledge the contribution of Swami Vivekananda to the present generation. Only the stupid can term the naming of the scheme as Viveka as the peak of stupidity. We condemn such statements," he said.
"Former chief Minister Veerappa Moily stated that there is no opposition to painting the classrooms with saffron. KPCC working president Saleem Ahammed has claimed that there is no fear regarding saffron. They say that they have respect towards the color. But, why has Priyank Kharge given such a statement about Viveka Scheme," he questioned.
