Arya Dhargalkar from Goa emerges winner of Daijiworld TV's ‘Biri Biri Pavs’ reality show

Mangaluru, Nov 18: Daijiworld 24x7 TV’s Konkani poetry recitation reality show 'Biri Biri Pavs' culminated with the announcement of winner and runners up on Thursday November 17.

Arya Dhargalkar from Goa emerged the winner of season 1 of the show and was awarded with Rs 25,000 cash, trophy and certificate. Danica Pahal from Kerala bagged the first runner-up position with prize money of Rs 20,000. Sharvani Naik from Goa secured the second runner-up spot with a cash award of Rs 15,000.

The finalists, Eldon D’Souza, Mangaluru, Prachiti Raikar, Goa, Shwetha Pai, Kerala, and Vaibhav Majalikar, Goa were awarded Rs 5,000 cash each. Anson Nazareth, Rikita Saldanha and Adi Varekar secured the 8th, 9th and 10th places and took home cash prizes.

The show had three rounds. In the first round, Smitha Shenoy, Konkani poetess from Mangaluru was the celebrity judge along with judges Melvyn Rodrigues and Titus Noronha. Dr Rajay Pawar from Goa was the celebrity judge for the second round. For the final round, Jnanpith awardee Damodar Mauzo, all the way from Goa was the celebrity judge. Damodar Mauzo interacted with the finalists and appreciated them for learning Konkani poetry and its presentation in a competitive way.

Along with Damodar Mauzo, James Mendonca, the sponsor of the show, Walter Nandalike, founder, Daijiworld Media Group Pvt Ltd, Nandagopal Shenoy, president, Konkani Bhas ani Samskruthi Prathishtan, Kishoo Barkur, president, Kavita Trust, Alexis Castelino, director, Daijiworld were present on the dais during the prize distribution ceremony.

Appreciating the efforts of Kavita Trust and Daijiworld TV in introducing Konkani poems on digital platforms, James Mendonca said, “Due to this show, we were introduced to many seniors, legendary and new poets. The contestants got groomed and trained by judges with lessons on poetry, language and history. I can say that this show is a milestone in the Konkani literary and entertainment world. These types of efforts should be continued. Meanwhile, along with poetry recitation, the participants should practice writing own poems.”

Wishing the finalists the best, Walter Nandalike said, “In the initial days of the show, I had doubts on its success. But the viewers proved us wrong and they accepted the show wholeheartedly. Within a few episodes, the participants became celebrities. Normally, the reality shows have drama and scripted entertainment, nut Biri Biri Pavs won the hearts of people without any scripted emotions. All we can say is that this show paved a way for a revolution in the Konkani poetic world.”

Thanking the viewers, participants and crew, Kishoo Barkur said, “Biri Biri Pavs is a unique concept designed by Kavita Trust and Daijiworld TV. We have to appreciate Stany Bela's efforts as a director for the success of this show. The entire crew including the host and judges put their heart and soul into the show."

Nandagopal Shenoy said, “In general, there was a mindset stating that only the elderly like poetry. But by Biri Biri Pavs reality show, it is proved that the young generation is also interested in poetry and literary subjects. Daijiworld and Kavita Trust showed a way how to reach people with poetry and its various aspects. Meanwhile, the contestants from various states proved that there are no borders for language. No one can separate people who share the same mother tongue and they spread to various regions.”

Host Manoj Fernandes received huge appreciation from the dignitaries and audience for his flawless communication between the contestants and judges. He also won the hearts of viewers for his knowledge on Konkani language and clarity of words.

The six-month long reality show telecasted on Daijiworld TV comprised 27 episodes. The Goa auditions were held under the patronage of Konkani Bhasha Mandal. The entire show was shot at World Konkani Center, Shaktinagar, Mangaluru. Kamath Caterers, Mangaluru were the hospitality partners of the show.
