Mangaluru Nov 19: The 117th Founder’s Day celebration of Canara Bank was held at the Founders' Monument in Dongarakery on Saturday, November 19.
M Subraya Pai from Bharath Group inaugurated the Founders Day by lighting the lamp. Later, floral tributes were paid by the dignitaries to the statue of founder Ammembal Subba Rao Pai.
Meanwhile M Subraya Pai was felicitated.
Speaking on the occasion, M Subraya Pai said, "Today is a day to remember Ammembal Subba Rao Pai as we celebrate 117th Founder’s Day of Canara Bank. We are lucky that several banks have been merged with Canara Bank. It is the most relevant name across the country being a bank that belongs to the land of Mangaluru.
General manager, Canara Bank, circle office, S Jayakumar said, "As per the desire of its founder, the bank has excelled across the country. Canara Bank is the third largest public sector bank in the country with Rs 20 lac crore business. We wish to carry forward the values of founder Ammembal Subba Rao Pai."
On the occasion of Founder's Day, Canara bank distributed 300 school bags to students of Sri Srinivasa Pathasala oriented high school on V T Road Mangaluru and Canara Vidya Jyothi Scholarship to meritorious girl students of government school.
Canara Bank was established in 1906.
