Udupi: Parichaya Pamboor to organize 'Sur Smrithi' in memory of Late Fr Dr Charles Vas

Udupi, Nov 21: “Parichaya Pamboor," a forum for culture, art and literature of Pamboorians is organizing “Sur Smrithi” a devotional songs night in memory of Late Fr Dr Charles Vas, SVD. The program will be held on Sunday November 27 at 6:30 pm at Holy Cross church grounds, Pamboor.

Fr Dr Charles Vas was popularly known as an evangelist and dance and a bhajan chanting Christian priest. He passed away on November 30, 2021 at the age of 77. Sur Smirithi will be a tribute to Fr Dr Charles Vas, SVD. Fr Henry Mascharenhas, parish priest Pamboor church will bless the program while Fr Abhraham D’Souza SVD, director, Divine Retreat Centre, Mulky will be the chief guest for the programme.

Two talks on musical journey of Fr Charles and Fr Charles Vas as a missionary through music will be presented by Fr Valerian Mendonca and Fr Baptist Pais, SVD respectively.

Renowned Sitar artiste Ustad Rafique Khan will direct the music for the show. Sangeeth Visharad Vidwan Roshan Martis will anchor the program. Ustad Rafique Khan will be on sitar, Pandit Rajendra Nakod on tabla, Razak TP on keyboard, Ashwin Walwalkar on Santoor, Rajgopal on Guitar and Neetu Ninad on trumpet. Special sound effects will be by Raghavendra Rangadol who will add melodies to the show.

Fr Baptist Pais SVD, Sangeeta Balachandra, Malini Keshavparasad, Jason Lobo, Dr Vincent Alva, Anil D’Sa. Cliyon D'Silva and Apoorva Osta will render their voices to the melodious tunes.
