Bantwal: Mescom Pickup enters roadside house after car hits it, wall collapses

Bantwal, Nov 27: The driver of a car lost control and collided with an oncoming pickup vehicle sending it into a house that was by the road side.

The incident occurred on the night of Saturday at Manihalla.

The car was moving from Punjalakatte to Bantwal, while the pickup belonging to the Mescom was plying in the opposite direction.

When the car was coming straight towards the pick up, the latter's driver tried to avert the collision and smashed it onto the house situated by the road side.

The compound wall of the house collapsed due to the impact. Fortunately, no injuries are reported.

    @ Deshbhakt, Mangalore Well said !. I have not passed from Bantwal city of late but as far as my memory goes to 60's, I had noticed some roofs of tiled houses projected (1feet) above the traffic road and the roads used to be so narrow.

    Some houses on this stretch are on the road edge with the step right on the road when you cross the threshold. With road widening work heavily going on, haven't these people got eviction order ? Burden on taxpayers for compensation, now the case will drag on.
