It is an good initiative from Mr Dayanand Bangera, to produce an international cricketer from coastal belt. I agree with Mr Denzil, that everybody should take that intrest as Bangera, to promote our upcoming talented cricketers. As far as Karnataka is concerned we have only one International stadium in Bangalore and why the second one cant be in Mangalore, because of having an International cricket stadium in Mangalore, the coastal belt will be limelighted and hopefully more talented cricketers from all over Karnataka will be seen in Indian cricket team. I agree with Mr Denzil that each person should be given with their own tasks. Wishing Dayanand Bangera good luck for all his dreams of promoting cricket in our coastal Karnataka.

We do not need massive place to prepare players. We need plan / programme for the grass root level cricket in Mangalore and udupi. I am confident I will produce world class cricketers from this belt. All we need is support from Karnataka Cricket Asscociation. I was there in Udupi/Manipal first week of May during UCA Inter Academy Tournament. Teams participated from Brijesh Patel Academy from Bangalore. BPA Coach Praveen Kumar himself told me, we have good players in coastal belt. Udupi has won both under 16 and 14 tournament. Since, I was specially flown in for this tournament to see my son Akshaya Bangera playing under 14 ( he is 11 )and adjudged man of the match in final played in Manipal. My son is studying in udupi only to adjust for Indian climate / culture. I feel experiment starts from home. I am preparing my self with all guns ( Icc level 1 and 2 ceritification Ranji 1996 UAE world cup team member / played asia cup qualifier ). Thorough my Akshaya sports Academy I am planning to set up my own academy in udupi region to start with. Its in final satge to get proper place.

I have clearly put forward my concern to Dravid. KSCA should give me responsibility of coastal belt. He was impressed with my cricketing activities in Abu dhabi. Apart from my full time job, weekends and free time I am always into cricket training in Abu dhabi zayed MCC Cricket Academy.
As Denzil rightly mentioned, each one should be given task.

As far as the coastal areas are concerned, we have the NMPT ground in Panambur where I had organised the seven a side cricket tournament for colleges from Mangalore University many years ago on behalf of the Panambur Rotary Club. Likewise, we have the Nehru Maidan in Mangalore, Mangala Stadium near Hat Hill, so many other grounds belonging to the various colleges in the district, the superb facilities in Manipal, Udipi and Moodbidri which all can be used for several sports and games including cricket.
The only question is who will bell the cat? We have several officials all over sitting tight on their well paid chairs and doing nothing. The need of the hour is for interested coaches and officials who should bring out the best from our schools and colleges in South Kanara. There is no shortage of infrastructure - it is simply a matter of using these facilities with the help of willing and interested sports officials. Past players should be roped in, paid well for their services and you will suddenly find loads of players with such a lot of promise appearing to play for Karnataka. I don't think it is a difficult task at all.
So many well known companies and businessmen also can chip in with their support.

The ground at Panambur is big enough to be developed as an full pledged cricket ground. It is easily accessible as it is on highway. Can become a training ground for budding coastal talents and hosting ground to host international games. The ground is lying idle without being exploited to its full potential.

There is no infrastructure at all to play or practice professional cricket in our coastal karnatak side except 2 -3 place since 40 years I believe. What we currently lacking in mangalore /udupi , a proper international ground ? still don’t understand why no one thought abt building world class cricket stadium in coastal area (such a beautiful location like west Indian grounds facing see) which can attract many tourist from domestic as well international level . 

I believe there are quite good number of private players in our costal home land who can think about building massive stadium with local government support or partnership basis which can generate huge revenue as part of their investment as well boots the entire local economy, local sports talent and more…………… all we need a good management team with professional approach towards sports and our costal karnatak taste. nothing is impossible as long as we work towards our goal.

If one remembers, when the new Karnataka State Cricket Association committee was formed early this year, I had suggested that each cricketer in the committee should be made responsible for a dedicated district in Karnataka to develop cricket. That would set up a competition which would surely unearth new talent.
Karnataka is nowhere on the national cricket campus with not many players in the national side. Sad, to say the least. Despite promising players like Uthappa, Pandey and others, we are yet to find some stunning stars of the past like Dravid, Kumble, Kirmani, Srinath and others.
Unless something drastic is done, Karnataka will be left behind and other newcomers like Jharkhand will take the limelight.
It is not enough to organise IPL matches in Bangalore and fill the coffers of the Association. There is much more than that if you want Karnataka to be the Ranji champions again. So many talented cricketers are waiting all over the state to be groomed into match winners. Players like Dravid and others can be a huge boost to promote cricket in the State.

Nice to hear that Rahul Dravid & Daya Bangera are thinking abt starting a serious cricket camps in mangalore other coastal places,but the big question is that do we have enough cricket grounds and facilities to serve the up coming cricketers .
