Mangaluru, Nov 27: Gathering of evidence in the cooker bomb explosion that occurred at Nagori in the city has become a big challenge to the cops.
The accused Sharik, who was seriously injured in the explosion is getting treated at a hospital here. So the police are unable to take his statement. His right eye and both his hands have suffered burn injuries.
In addition, his face and stomach were also burnt. Doctors say that Sharik might develop kidney infection due to the burn injuries and it might take at least a week for him to speak.
Even if Sharik recovers, there is a suspicion on whether he will answer the queries posed by the police. His statement in the case is vital and police are waiting for him to recover.
The state government has handed over the blast probe to NIA. As the case is getting a new twist every day, the government has asked NIA to take over the complicated case. The state government took this decision based on the proof that is collected at the preliminary stage of investigation.
It is quite likely that Sharik will be named as A1 accused in the bomb blast case. The NIA team of officials is camping in the city itself. Some other teams are investigating in Mysuru, Coimbatore, Kanyakumari and Kochi.
Islamic Resistance Council (IRC) has warned law and order ADGP Alok Kumar. In a statement given by the organisation it said, “Your (Alok Kumar’s) happiness will not last long. We have continued our work. We do not know when we will come near you.”
Information is available that Sharik wanted to join ISIS. It is said that he took the photograph with a pressure cooker in his hand for the same reason.
Mobile phones of the accomplices of Sharik were found to be switched off as soon as his act went public. Many numbers were detected when his mobile connection was retrieved.
When police called those numbers that were showing Tamil Nadu and Kerala as locations, they were found to be switched off.
