Dubai, Nov 30: St Mary’s Mangalorean Community (SMMC) Dubai has announced its forthcoming first mega event of the year 2023 - ‘SMMC Sports Fiesta 2023’.
It will be a day-long outdoor sports event with Cricket (men & women), Volleyball and Throwball tournament at Skyline University College ground, Sharjah, on February 12, 2023 from 7.30 am onwards.
Since its commencement in 2013, SMMC, a fast growing and popular Mangalurean organisation at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Dubai is functioning to fulfill the spiritual and community requirements of the huge Mangalurean Konkani community of Dubai parish and has been successfully organising various events like dramas, sports events, competitions, stage programmes, feast celebrations etc.
SMMC has been successfully organising sports event from past few years. After a gap of two years, due to Covid-19 situation, SMMC core committee under the guidance of its Spiritual Director Fr Victor Fernandes has geared up to make first major event of 2023 as a gratifying one. SMMC requests for the generous support from the Konkani community for this event, through significant contribution and active participation to make this event a spectacular one.
This popular sports event will be a full day outdoor event, open only for Christian teams (any nationalities) with UAE resident visa/Emirates ID holders, where skilled teams from different Emirates are expected to participate. Attractive cash prizes and trophies will be presented to the winning teams and individuals for their exceptional performance.
Teams are invited to play in the following categories:
Cricket-Overarm (Men)
Cricket-underarm (Women)
Volleyball (Men)
Throwball (Women)
As there will be limited teams under each category, entry will be on “First come First Serve basis”.
There will be exciting games for children in the age group of 6 to 16 years under different categories.
