Bangalore: 14 New Priests Ordained for Archdiocese of Bangalore

Fr Cyril Victor

Bangalore, May 18: For the first time ever, as many as 14 new priests were ordained for the Bangalore archdiocese here at St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral on the birthday of Blessed John Paul II on Wednesday May 18.

Before the conferral of priestly ordination, Bernard Moras, the archbishop of Bangalore officially unveiled the portrait of Blessed John Paul II. He showered the rose petals on the portrait as a mark of honour and respect. He also shared his most cherished experience of the Beatification of the venerable servant of God which was held at Rome on May 1. The Archbishop participated in this ceremony.

The Archbishop said, "The beatification ceremony was very prayerful and peaceful. On the previous day for more than three hours there was a prayer vigil. The Beatification ceremony was attended by lacs of people, which shows Pope John Paul the great is still living in the memories of the faithful."

The ceremony of honouring Blessed John Paul and the ordination ceremony was attended by more than 250 priests and 6,000 people.

Later, the new priests were felicitated by the Archbishop, priests, religious and the faithful after the ceremony.

Dear Doddanna, my explanations are not a solution, but it is a fact and was found out in many scientific surveys that a high percentage of people in western countries lack a meaning of life.
A meaning of life strengthens human beings and enables them to overcome dark periods in their life better.
There are many ways offered to get a meaning in our globalised world (meditation, yoga and much more).
A strong faith, going to church, reading the Bible and doing something for the poor gives human beings the certainty to lead a fulfilling life.

    Best regards

Kurt Waschnigs explanation of Germany is not a solution to problems worldwide. Germany is special and Karnataka is special too. We cannot compare Germany to Karnataka or Bangalore. Germany has a great history of Christianity and Karnataka has suffered in the hands of fanatics. So, what is the use of comparing Germany to Karnataka? Germany has been a great help to many countries like Africa, Asia and Latin America. You cannot belittle Germany because there are 14 new priests in Karnataka. Both are unique in their way. There are a million good things in Germany and a million good things in Karnataka. That's the truth. Doddanna - Damaskatte.

I wish the 14 new ordained priests the best for their work.
When you start your to work in parishes or at schools etc. do never forget the poorest of the poor.
The poorest of the poor and the weakest are especially loved by Jesus.
For us as Christians is it so important never to forget the poorest of the poor to see their needs and poverty.
14 young men were ordained, they are educated and highly skilled and prepared for their priestly life.
They are God´s representatives on earth and we as Christians must pray for them, for their service and work.
It is unbelievable for me to read that 14 young men became Catholic priests for the Bangalore
    archdiocese.
I know Karnataka very well and life is so different compared to Germany.
We enjoy a very high standard of living in Germany, Germany´s economy is strong as never before, we have a good working social system.
But never before so many people in Germany are addicted to alcohol, drugs and suffer from depression and other psychological disorders.
The problem is that million of people have no meaning of life in Germany.
People who believe in God, go to church, medidate, pray , read the Bible and worship, have a better fundament for everyday life problems.
    Believers know God loves them.
To ordain 14 young men is a special day for the Bangalore archdiocese.
It is a day of joy.
